Viper’s Video Quicktags

Native Embeds

Since version 2.9, WordPress has featured native easy embeds. However this plugin offers more customization than allowed without the plugin (player colors, etc.). It will work fine side by side with the new code and you can opt to use either embed method.

The plan for this plugin is to recode it from scratch to instead build upon the new embed API and allow for more customization. The new plugin will be backwards compatible and keep your current videos working.

Description:

Tired of copying and pasting the embed HTML from sites like YouTube? Then this plugin is for you.

Just simply click one of the new buttons that this plugin adds to the write screen (rich editor included) and then paste the URL that the video is located at into the prompt box — easy as that. You can fully configure how the videos are displayed (width, height, colors, alignment on the page) and much more. Your site will even stay (X)HTML valid unlike with the code provided by most video sites.

Currently supports these video sites:

As well as these file types:

  • Flash Video Files (FLV) — some manual installation required, see this post for details
  • QuickTime (MOV, etc.)
  • Generic video files (AVI, MPEG, WMV, etc.)

You can also use the [flash] shortcode to Flash-based video from any website (see Help section after installing for details).

  1. Reporting a bug:

I have a “Internet explorer no puede habrir el sitio (my site)” operación anulada.
“Internet Explorer can’t open the site (my site)” annulled operation.

Wen I open my site in Internet Explorer 6

    Sorry. I speak spanish.

    Goodbye

  2. The plugin code is included on every page of my site; however, I use it for just a single page. Is there a way to have the viper code only loaded on that page?
Thanks for a great and simple to use plugin that works perfectly.

  3. I installed the plug in and as with every other plug in I’ve installed, I can’t get it to work right. I don’t know if I’m using the wrong You Tube code or what, but the window to prompt for the URL shows up, I put that in and then on the post I get the URL instead of the video. Help?

  5. Hi everybody! I have a serious problem can anybody help please?!
I downloaded the plugin and extracted the files as required, but when I wanted to install the plugin, I didn’t find the wp-content/plugins anywhere in my dashboard… I went to several forums to ask about it and the only answer was that WordPress has deleted the add plugins option. Is it true? If no, how can you explain it’s completely gone from my administration board?

Hope to have an answer as soon as possible… Thank you!

  6. Hi

I started using this plugin today and already noticed two problems

    1. when I activate it, my wordpress plugin admin panel crashes since I need more then 8MB of RAM (I have only 8MB from my hosting). Using other plugins works fine.
    2. In IE I get only a link to the video not the video embedded as in firefox. YOu can check this out in my blog

Get some proper hosting then. There’s no way this plugin would use even CLOSE to 8MB of RAM. A KB or two at most.

Works fine for me in IE7 and I know the plugin works fine in IE6.

Therefore it must be your theme or whatever. Fix your validation errors.

  8. hi,
The plugin is great, very easy to use.
I am having one problem though. I need to make the videos smaller otherwise my entire theme gets thrown out of whack. I changed the default settings in the option panel, but I still get the larger video when I add one to a post.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
