WordPress 2.9 / 3.0:
Yes, WordPress 2.9 and WordPress 3.0 feature native easy embeds. However this plugin offers more customization than allowed without the plugin (player colors, etc.). It will work fine side by side with the new code and you can opt to use either embed method.
The plan for this plugin is to recode it from scratch to instead build upon the new embed API and allow for more customization. The new plugin will be backwards compatible and keep your current videos working.
Description:
Tired of copying and pasting the embed HTML from sites like YouTube? Then this plugin is for you.
Just simply click one of the new buttons that this plugin adds to the write screen (rich editor included) and then paste the URL that the video is located at into the prompt box — easy as that. You can fully configure how the videos are displayed (width, height, colors, alignment on the page) and much more. Your site will even stay (X)HTML valid unlike with the code provided by most video sites.
Currently supports these video sites:
- YouTube (including playlists)
- Google Video
- DailyMotion
- Vimeo
- Veoh
- Viddler
- Metacafe
- Blip.tv
- Flickr videos
- Spike.com/IFILM
- MySpaceTV
As well as these file types:
- Flash Video Files (FLV)
- QuickTime (MOV, etc.)
- Generic video files (AVI, MPEG, WMV, etc.)
You can also use the [flash] shortcode to Flash-based video from any website (see Help section after installing for details).

Hello,
Your script aren’t able to create the thumb for a flv / mp4 video hosted in my blog?
Without automatic thumb generation is a pain in the …. use the flv player…
Thank you anyway for this script.
I too have the same problem as Antonio told. Could you please update your plugin with the above said feature and update to us.
Thanks in advance,
Srimathi.
That’s not possible to do in a shared hosting environment. Nothing I can do.
Mhhh, and how come script like vshare, do this without problem?
I used this script in hosting, in virtual server and real dedicated server…
And generate 3 thumb for each video, no matther if wmv, mpg, flv, etc… i actually upload 90 flv already done… and this script do the thumb without problems…
http://buyscripts.in/requirements.html
# FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu)
# Mplayer + Mencoder (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html)
As main thumb generator use the FFmpeg, anyway also mplayer can be used to generate the thumb.
I hope this help, best regards.
Hello,
I am having a problem with the plug-in in Internet Explorer (both 6 and 7). Whenever I add a video into a post, the quicktag-code is always printed as the first line of the post.
This only happens in IE, in Firefox or Chrome the video is positioned at the location where I wanted it to be embedded.
Otherwise great plug-in.
Antonio on March 26th, 2009 at 6:10 AM wrote:
Look at the server requirements — it requires FFmpeg and such to be installed. Those are what do the thumbnailing. The vast majority of servers don’t have that available.
But anyway, my plugin is just for embedding. It’s up to you to make a thumbnail.

I’m using VVQ 6.1.20, WP 2.7.1 and K2 1.0-RC7. It seems I found a little bug when using VVQ on different posts. On the main page of the blog, when showing last 10 posts and using VVQ, videos get messed, second video is showing on the first post, and first video is missing.
If I see one single post the video shows correctly. This didn’t happened with previous version of VVQ. I’ve checked this on Windows XP and Firefox 3.0.7. Please check this.
Greetings.

Hi.
First: thank you for that great plugin. It works like charm!
However i’m desperatly seeking for a way to make the plugin scale the videos proportionally up to 100% of their surrounding div container’s width.

Hey Viper,
So far so good. A note or two on possible improvements to the documentation: In the “How can I embed a generic Flash file or a video from a website this plugin doesn’t support?” you show how the flash embed code works. However, you never mention what the code to embed quicktime or wmv is, only what the different attributes are. I realize embedding qt/wmv is a pain cross browser, but… I gotta provide the option.
Would it be possible to post here what that code is? I’m assuming it’s probably something like
[qt]http://site/path/to/file[/qt]or[quicktime]...[/quicktime]or something similar. Also, would it be possible to include buttons in the WYSIWYG for embedding flash, qt, and wmv similar to the other video source buttons?
WHOOPS just saw the link to the forum above. I’ll repost there.
Buttons exist for Quicktime and generic video. They just aren’t on by default. Please visit the settings page and turn them on.
The
[flash]tag is too complicated for a button as you need Flashvars and such.Viper007Bond on May 24th, 2009 at 5:34 PM wrote:

How can i solve my issue?
keep in mind that I have deleted the previous version before installing the new one and that i have refreshed my browser after installing the plugin.
by the way i tried to deactivate all other plugins and change themes without joy

Ok the plugin works! But let me explain something. That was not the first it happened so maybe there is something out of place. Every time I install the plugin with the *correct* procedure the pluign for some time does not work. No matter what i do. In fact i can reinstall it, uninstall it -install the previous one -uninstall it and reinstall the new one – re install wordpress itself! change permissions of files, change themes etc but nothing happens. the pluign refuses to work. I try to make some test by posting a test post with a video but nothing.
Do you know when it start working? when I say to myself: Ok, I want to make a new test post with a *different* video. I delete the old test post, i make a new one and the plugin works!
I am not an expert here but maybe and i say maybe the plugin gets issues on the server side? Till the server has not refreshed all the files correctly the plugin doesnt work. or maybe it is just WordPress that “accepts” the plugin itself after some time?? Sorry for these eccentric explanation but i am trying to help other people with their issues which maybe simply do not exsit!
greets!

Thank you! This plugin is, by far, the most updated & when you have several blogs that you try to keep up-to-date, it becomes a real chore. 1-2 clicks on one blog is one thing, but many of us have several, so multiply that numerous times & it’s rather annoying, to say the least. I’ve tried ignoring the updates, but hate that red 1 staring at me, taunting me, making me feel less than complete.

First off, you are SO appreciated at my workplace. We absolutely love your plugin.
I also don’t understand why people dislike the updates on the plugin. I love it. It’s so incredibly easy to update now in 2.8+ that it seems silly not to update frequently.
On to a different topic though. When we add a Quicktime or FLV movie to a website that person has to remember that QT needs an additional 16 pixels in height (might be 18) to compensate for the controller bar at the bottom. I think it’s almost the same scenario for FLV’s, but it’s more like 20 pixels. That being said, we have many people here that are posting videos and they ALWAYS forget to add those extra pixels to the height. Then they come to me, asking me why the video is scaled strange.
I’m wondering if there’s an easy hack that I could add to your plugin that adds 16 or 20 pixels to the height so that it is correct everytime? Only for QT, and FLV’s though.
We are using WordPress for client reviews (we do video editing/motion graphics). So you can see how this is a much needed feature for US at least. A long time ago, back in the WP 2.5 days, I made my own quicktag that added all the object embed code to a post and it added those extra pixels. It was really convenient. I would love to have that same option here.
Any suggestions?

esb on July 17th, 2009 at 11:23 AM wrote:
I don’t want to add it myself as there’s different FLV skins, backwards compatibility, etc.
You can easily add it though. If you’re familiar with the WordPress plugin API, then hook into the “vvq_shortcodeatts” filter. An array is passed with the attributes and you can add some pixels to the height and then return it. You can use the second passed variable to only do it for certain video types.
On the category pages only when the posts are collapsed the plug in shows a piece of the embed code as seen on http://www.santanastown.com/blog/category/other/ (about 3 posts down). I inserted a youtube video using the regular embed code and it works fine, so the issue is not the template but the plugin. Any idea how I can fix that? I tried posting to the wordpress forum but no answers so far.
Thanks,
Dave
