Automattic

As of today, I am officially a fulltime Automattic employee! I’ve been contracting with Automattic for a few months now but didn’t want to talk about it for fear of cursing it. It really is a dream job for me as I’m working with some of the best people in the business and the WordPress community and I couldn’t be happier. I want to thank Matt and everyone else at Automattic for giving me this great opportunity.

I’ll Be Attending WordCamp San Francisco

I’ll be attending WordCamp San Francisco on May 1st. If you’re planning on being there, make sure you say hi. I like putting a face to all those online / IRC nicknames. :)

EDIT: Just to be clear, registration isn’t actually open (yet), I’m merely stating my intent to go and was curious who else was planning on attending. ;)

EDIT #2: Registration is now open!

My Inbox

If you’ve sent me an e-mail over the past… damn, probably a month and haven’t received a reply, then there’s no need to fret. I most likely received it, but between the holidays and work, I’m quite behind on everything but the work related e-mails. I’m going to try and set aside a few hours this weekend to see if I can make my inbox count get down to zero. It’s currently sitting at about 50 with another 50-100 that have been sitting in there long term. D’oh.

Learning Dvorak

Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into?

Matt Mullenweg has been preaching the benefits of Dvorak for many years now. After his latest sermon, I decided it was finally time that I give it a go. I’m only using Dvorak here and there as it murders my WPM (I type like a letter per 5 seconds — this post took forever to write), but I did rearrange my keyboard keys to help me out:

Dvorak

(The F and J keys on my keyboard have their connectors turned 90 degrees, so they and the keys that replace them had to be rotated.)

Currently I type with only 2 or so fingers (hunt and peck without the hunting), so I’m hoping that switching to home row Dvorak will be better on my hands even though home row is really uncomfortable. We’ll see. :)

WordCamp Portland 2009

Just a quick note saying I’ll be attending WordCamp Portland again this year. Last year was great and this year should be even better (two days!). If you’re in the area on September 19 and 20th, consider attending (it’s only $20) and saying hi. I’ll be the dork with the “Viper007Bond” nametag. :P

I’m Not Dead

Just a quick note that I’m still alive and kicking. I’ve been really busy with a new job (I’ll save that for a future post perhaps) and soon writing more stuff for the WordPress core. I was also gone for the past week attending my dad’s wedding and then a beach vacation with the new extended family, but got back a few hours ago.

So yeah, I’m here, but my blog and my plugins have taken a back seat for now. ;)

Inactivity

Just a head’s up to anyone that needs me — I have to be moved out by the 30th (that’s two weeks, ugh). I have no clue where I’m moving to (I’m trying to find an apartment), if I’ll have Internet or what (I need it of course), and so forth.

And before then, I gotta spend major amounts of time cleaning up 9 years worth of crap in this house so we can move out ASAP as well as time spent on my new job.

In short, I may be MIA for a while.

Twitter

Finally signed up for a Twitter account. You can find me here. No clue if I’ll use it long term or not, but it seems to be a good place to post random crap like plugin progress, etc.

WordCamp Portland

Apparently there’s gonna be a WordCamp here in Portland. The previous major WordCamps have always looked interesting but were much too far away for me to go. However with this one being just a short bus ride away, I no longer have any legitimate reasons not to go.

So, I guess you know where I’ll be on Saturday, September 27th. :)
