Boeing Airborne Laser (ABL) Image

This post was originally posted on March 7th, 2006 at 4:17 PM. However, I busted my blog by upgrading to the wrong version of WordPress and had to revert to a database backup. That resulted in the loss of this post.

I was watching a Discovery Channel show that I downloaded today called “Ultimate 10 Military Machines” and it featured this crazy plane called the Airborne Laser (ABL) for short (see right).

It flies around above the clouds in friendly skies looking for enemy missles. It then locks onto them with a bunch of low power lasers and then uses a bigass chemical powered laser that’s 1000 times as powerful as the sun to basically burn a hole in the missle.

How futuristic and crazy is that?!

You can find out more about it at Boeing’s website.

h1Dick Cheney Hunting Mosaic

Posted on Monday, February 20th, 2006 at 6:04 PM (2 years, 9 months ago)

This photo mosaic of Dick Cheney in full hunting garb is comprised of screenshots of several hundred news websites covering the story of his February 11, 2006 shooting of hunting companion Harry Whittington.

It’s pretty cool and you can find it here: http://www.urlyart.com/gallery/cheney-hunting

h1NES Alarm Clock

Found this online:

So I built a funky alarm clock out of an old Nintendo console. Why? Because I was at Value Village with my girlfriend and my sister, and while they were browsing through miles of clothing the only thing of interest I could find were two broken Nintendo units without paddles, and I had to do something with them.

How kickass would it be to have Mr. T as the voice on your navigation system? I know I’d love it. :D

h1TVTAD v1.00 Released

Posted on Monday, October 31st, 2005 at 5:16 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Yep, TVTAD is back from the dead! It was dormant for a while, but now Kn00n has released an all new version, v1.00. You can download it at the official site.

For those who don’t know what TVTAD is, it’s a auto-downloader for torrent RSS feeds. You add as many torrent feeds to it as you want, pick some favorite TV shows, and it watches the feeds for your favorite shows and then automatically downloads the torrents and gives them to your BitTorrent client to download. It’s an awesome program.

Check out this thread if you’re looking for some TV torrent feeds: http://www.tvtad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=10

Yet another cool thing from Google — “Google Reader”, a web-based feed reader. It’s very kickass, powerful, and of course free.

h1Mike’s Hard Lemonade

Posted on Monday, September 19th, 2005 at 8:42 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

I just had one of these for the first time a few weeks back and oh man are they good! The “Hard Berry” (blackberry) ones are especially tasty.

If you haven’t had one before and they’re available in your area, I definetly say you should go out and buy a 6-pack. They’re about as expensive as beer and about the same amount of alcohol (5.2% by volume).

h1“Flurry” for Windows

Flurry Screensaver

I had seen this cool screensaver for Mac OS X before, but never knew the name of it, that is until today — “Flurry”. So, I Googled and found the screensaver’s official site as well as a Windows port of it. As a result, I now have a new favorite screensaver. :D

If you’ve never seen Flurry in action, you should really download it. Click here if you’re using Windows or here if you’re using OS X 10.1 or better. You won’t regret it. :)

h1The Million Dollar Homepage

Check out The Million Dollar Homepage. It’s a site where a British college student is selling a million pixels (in 10×10 pixel squares) for $1 a pixel in an effort to pay for school / make money. Pretty clever idea if you ask me. :)
