h1Spam Spam Spam

Posted on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006 at 2:06 AM (1 year, 11 months ago)

Wow, my blog is getting spammed hardcore right now at a rate of around 3 per minute for the past 24 hours (it was doing a lot, but not quite as many over the past couple days). I can literally watch the count just go right up before my eyes.

I mean, it’s not like I really care. Not one of the spams has gotten through thanks to the anti-comment spam plugin I’m using, Spam Karma 2 (see this previous post of mine), but still, it’s kinda a pain in the ass. I wish the spammers would just figure out that if the first 2000 comments they made never showed up that perhaps the next ones wouldn’t either. Oh well…

EDIT: And yes, I’m already running Bad Behavior, the latest beta even, but it’s not helping much. :(

h1A Look At Battlefield 2142

Posted on Saturday, May 13th, 2006 at 5:07 AM (2 years ago)

Edit @ 4:20PM: Haha, I just realized that outta habit and lack of sleep, I typed “1942″ rather than “2142″. Whoops!

The guys over at BF2S.com managed to check out Battlefield 2142 recently at E3.

Their opinions of the game as well as a great video and some screenshots can be found on right here. If you’re into first person shooter games, I highly recommend you read it! :)

h1Google Trends

Google released Google Trends today. It’s a pretty cool tool that’ll show you the trends of search phrases and also allows you to compare multiple search phrases. More information about it can be found on the Google Trends “About” page.

h1DDoS

So the server this domain is on has been being DDoS‘ed all day, resulting in it being down for most of the afternoon. Luckily my host rocks and resolved the issue fairly quickly, but of course it’s still having issues here and there. Just thought I’d let you all know what’s up. ;)

h1Half-Life 2: Episode One Is Now Pre-Loading!

Posted on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006 at 2:39 AM (2 years ago)

Starting today, you can pre-load the PC game “Half-Life 2: Episode One“. Episode One picks up where Half-Life 2 left off and has you venture to the outside of City 17.

Now, the game doesn’t come out until June 1st, but if you pre-load it before hand, you’ll have the game ready to go to be unlocked for when it’s released. Then you can play it moments after it’s released. Not to mention that if you purchase it before it’s released, you’ll save 20% off the purchase price which is $19.95 if you buy it by itself (other packages that contain other Valve titles as well are available), which is a pretty good deal if you ask me. I’m already pre-loading it and I’ll be pre-ordering it in the next couple days. :)

h1Bad Behavior 2 Pre-Release Versions

Posted on Monday, May 1st, 2006 at 2:09 AM (2 years ago)

Bad Behavior, the plugin that I use to block bad bots from my site (so they can’t waste bandwidth or spam my blog), has been updated. The new version, 2, is still in alpha/beta, but it’s very stable. It’s just lacking a few features, such as a full options page.

With that said, it’s well worth the upgrade. Since I’ve installed it, I’ve only gotten a couple spam comments on my blog as opposed to before when I was getting a decent amount (Spam Karma 2 would still catch them and mark them as spam, but it was annoying anyway). And even better, the bots that got through the current version I’m using will be blocked in the final version.

So, if you’re looking to keep bad bots from accessing your site and posting spam, make sure to get the new version of Bad Behavior! :)
