h1Needed: Translators

Posted on Saturday, February 25th, 2006 at 1:18 AM (2 years, 2 months ago)

Since I’ve noticed that a lotta Germans are using my Battlefield 2 Stats WordPress plugin, I’ve decided to implement true translation options for it.

However, since I don’t speak any language but English, I need people to translate it to different languages. So, if you you fluently speak another language (any language will do) and know English pretty well, please contact me!

h1Dick Cheney Hunting Mosaic

Posted on Monday, February 20th, 2006 at 6:04 PM (2 years, 2 months ago)

This photo mosaic of Dick Cheney in full hunting garb is comprised of screenshots of several hundred news websites covering the story of his February 11, 2006 shooting of hunting companion Harry Whittington.

It’s pretty cool and you can find it here: http://www.urlyart.com/gallery/cheney-hunting

h1NES Alarm Clock

Posted on Monday, February 20th, 2006 at 11:35 AM (2 years, 2 months ago)

Found this online:

So I built a funky alarm clock out of an old Nintendo console. Why? Because I was at Value Village with my girlfriend and my sister, and while they were browsing through miles of clothing the only thing of interest I could find were two broken Nintendo units without paddles, and I had to do something with them.

h1A Major Update for My “Battlefield 2 Stats” WordPress Plugin

Posted on Thursday, February 16th, 2006 at 7:15 PM (2 years, 2 months ago)

I’ve released a major update for my Battlefield 2 Stats WordPress plugin. Some of the new features in this version are…

  • addition of the ranks introduced in the Battlefield 2 v1.2 patch
  • code to connect to my website every once in a while and check for a new version
  • tons of code improvements and error handling

If you are using an older version, it’s really suggested that you update. Oh, and thanks a bunch to DocSparky for testing a couple of beta versions of this plugin for me. It’s very much appreciated! :)

h1Announcing “More To The Top”

Posted on Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 at 11:08 PM (2 years, 3 months ago)

I’ve just finished yet another plugin. This one is a REALLY simple plugin that removes the #more-123 from the end of the more link. The result is that when you click the link to go read the rest of the post, you don’t scroll down and instead are left at the top of the page.

It came about as a result of a thread in the WordPress support forums. Since modifying core files should be avoided whenever possible, I decided to write this mini-plugin.

If you’d like you download it, you can find a link to do so on the plugin’s page.

h1New Hosting Plan

Posted on Saturday, February 11th, 2006 at 11:27 AM (2 years, 3 months ago)

Woot, just switched hosting plans. My old one (which you can no longer sign up for) was running me $11.99 a month (I pay yearly though) and which got me 1 gig of space and 50 GB of transfer. Now I’m paying $9.99 a month and I get 5 gigs of storage and no real bandwidth limit to speak of (they’ll probably get mad if I use HUGE amount of bandwidth though).

And if that hosting plan sounds good to you, my host is HostRocket if you’d like to check them out (that’s a referral link that gets me money if you signup BTW).

h1The ORLY? Owl Has Died!

ORLY? Owl

Update 2/12: Turns out it may have been a hoax. Makes sense since I can’t pin down an official story from anywhere. That should been a big clue to me, but of course gullible me ignored the warning signs. Oh well…

For those who have no clue what the ORLY? owl is, check out Wikipedia.

Today, well yesterday now, was a sad day — the ORLY? owl died. :(

Thursday, February 9th, 2006 Posted: 10:07 AM EST (1507 GMT)

SanDiego, California (AP) — Jonathan, the Snowy Owl made famous as the “ORLY” owl, has died in captivity in the San Diego Zoo.

The owl, which was 17 years old, died Tuesday afternoon after the sudden onset of pneumonia. He was young for an owl in captivity, however wild owlsonly live an average of 15 years.

David Phillips, executivedirector of the San Diego Zoo, said Jonathan had been in good healthbut started showing signs of lethargy and loss of appetite on Monday.

“This is a long sad day for us,” Phillips said.

One of his handlers, Dale Richards, also said Jonathan died quickly. “We checked his respiration rate and it was a little irregular … he wasn’t doing too well,” Richards told The Associated Press. “Early in the evening, he passed away.”

The textual phrase “o rly?” wasfirst popularized on the SomethingAwful forums. The phrase wasinitially one of many used during the FYAD sub forum’s fad ofcompressing words by removing unnecessary letters. While “O RLY?” issimply shorthand for “Oh, Really?”, the most common image macro comesfrom 4chan, where for a short while, the word “repost” was wordfiltered to “owl”. The Image macro and its attached phrase then spreadrapidly throughout the Internet.

h1“Alphabetical Plugins” Updated

Posted on Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 at 5:35 PM (2 years, 3 months ago)

In WordPress v2.0.1, a function that my plugin uses was moved and this broke it. I’ve updated my plugin to reflect the move while making it backwards compatible as well.

You can download the new version over on the plugin’s page.
