h1Modified My Theme Some

Posted on Monday, July 25th, 2005 at 3:40 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

I replaced the header image of my WordPress theme with one of my photos (larger version here) and widened the whole thing. The post contents do look a bit odd though with many of them being on one line, but overall, I think it looks a lot better now, don’t you? :)

h1More Gravatar Stuff

Posted on Sunday, July 24th, 2005 at 11:56 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Yay! More pointless blog posts about new features on my blog that you probably don’t care about! :P

But seriously, I installed two new Gravatar plugins. The first is a replacement for the one that I was using earlier. This one caches the Gravatars here on my server and allows people who are registered here on my blog to set a custom Gravatar for use only here. This though you probably don’t care much about.

The other plugin is one that affects you more probably. It’s a cool plugin that allows you to sign up for a Gravatar account right on my blog without having to visit the Gravatar site. (See it in action here in the comments for this post.) Now you’ll have no reason to not have a Gravatar! :)

h1Added Commenters’ Country Flags

Posted on Sunday, July 24th, 2005 at 1:51 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Added a cool plugin that displays the flag of the country that the person commenting is posting from in the comments. To check it out, see the comments for this post.

If you’re interested in implementing it in your own WordPress blog, the plugin can be found here.

h1Archives Page

Posted on Saturday, July 23rd, 2005 at 1:03 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Added a cool archives page to the right side under “Archives”. It lists out all entires per month. :)

For those running WordPress and who want it on their own blog, it uses the Clean Archives plugin to generate the list.

h1Google Sightseeing

You should check out Google Sightseeing. It’s a cool site that posts interesting places on Google Maps and Google Earth.

Thanks to a-arse for the link.

h1Optimus Keyboard

In case you haven’t seen it, you should really check out the Optimus keyboard. It’s a concept keyboard where each key is actually a tiny LCD kinda screen. This allows you do display whatever the hell you want on your keys. Here’s an example off their site:

I am so totally picking one of those up once they come out. :D

h1Bulk Rename Utility

Posted on Friday, July 22nd, 2005 at 12:28 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

My dad pointed this program out to me a while back and thought I’d share it. I think he found it on PCWorld.com or something.

Anyway, it’s a extremely powerful file renamer that can use EXIF data, regex, and a TON of other stuff. Here’s a screenshot off their site of the main screen to give you a rough idea of the features:

h1Google Moon

Posted on Thursday, July 21st, 2005 at 6:56 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Google Moon came out a few days ago and thought I’d point it out for those that haven’t seen it. They created it in honor of the first manned moon landing:

In honor of the first manned Moon landing, which took place on July 20, 1969, we’ve added some NASA imagery to the Google Maps interface to help you pay your own visit to our celestial neighbor. Happy lunar surfing. More about Google Moon.

And don’t forget to zoom in all the way for an easter egg! :)

h1Yet Another Version of My Blog

Posted on Thursday, July 21st, 2005 at 6:24 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Welcome to yet another reincarnation of my blog. I was REALLY tired of getting comment and referral spam on my old blog, plus I was really tired of b2evolution which is what powered by old blog. This new blog is powered by WordPress which has come a long way since I last redid my blog and chose b2evolution over WordPress.

Anyway, as for this blog template, it’s just temporary until I can find something better. I’ve actually asked for some help over on my forums, so if you’re good at web design and are interested, go check that link out. :)
