h1New last.fm

Posted on Monday, August 29th, 2005 at 2:36 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

So I navigated over to last.fm today and discovered they have a totally new website (it’s been up since the 9th, but I just now noticed). There’s also no more AudioScrobbler.com, just last.fm now.

The site itself is pretty kickass — a lot cleaner and easier to navigate. That goes for the profiles as well.

They also have a desktop player now instead of a stream in your normal audio player. I must say, I do like it, espeically since it actually displays what I’m listening to. (Before, it’d slowly get farther and father off.)

If you don’t already have an account and have the tracking plugin installed into your favorite audio player, you really should. I mean, the customized radio streams themselves make it all worth it (pick an artist you like and songs are found for you that’d you probably like). h1New Comment Features

Posted on Sunday, August 28th, 2005 at 5:46 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Just thought I’d share the news (and code) of two new comment features that I’ve added to my blog.

The first is auto-scrolling to your comment after you post it. It works on themes where each comment has an id or link. If you’d like to add it to your blog, check out this thread on the WordPress support forums.

The other new feature is the ability to edit your comments for 30 minutes. Ever posted a comment only to realize that you made a spelling mistake or whatnot? Well now you can fix it.

This feature came out of a thread that I made on the WordPress forums where I was coming up with ideas for the feature. I had originally planned to code it myself (and after looking at the resulting code, I could have), but jalenack got to it before I could. It ended up working out for the best though since he accomplished the feature in a much more elegant way than I would have (he didn’t use any custom forms or anything).

Anyway, you can test out both features in the comments area of this post. Just click the comments link below. :)

h1Smilies Switcher

Posted on Thursday, August 25th, 2005 at 11:28 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

A thread was made on the WordPress support forums asking if there was a way to have different smilies per theme. Since there didn’t seem to be a way to do it via WordPress itself, I threw together a plugin that works with Theme Switcher to allow you to do it.

The plugin’s page is here if you want to use it on your site. Leave any comments on that page as well. :)

h1Freebord - Snowboard the Streets

Posted on Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 at 11:14 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Wow, this “Freebord” thing is insanely cool. It’s a skateboard that has additional center pivoting wheels which allows you to slide sidways if you want like a snowboard.

A great video that explains the Freebord and shows it in action can br found here with some more details, pictures, and videos being found on the official Freebord site.

That thing really makes me wish I wasn’t so un-coordinated. :(

h1I’m Already Growing Tired of My Theme

Posted on Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 at 10:47 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Yes, that’s right, after just a month of using it, I’m already starting to somewhat grow tired of this theme.

I really wish I had some artisitc skills so that I could make what I consider to be a perfect theme, or at least change this one more to be perfect.

What do you all think of it? What do you think I could do to improve it?

h1Google Talk Released

Posted on Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 at 7:17 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Google Talk, Google’s IM client, has been released. Since it uses the XMPP protocol, any client that supports Jabber/XMPP can connect to the Google Talk service. Check out this list to connect your client to the Google Talk service.

Another small step in Google’s plans to talk over the world and no, I’m not complaining. :)

Oh, and I’m connected via Trillian Pro, so you can hit me up at Viper007Bond [at] gmail [dot] com if you want.

h1Live Blog Search

Posted on Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 at 7:07 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

I ripped some code outta the WordPress theme K2 (the sequel to the infamous theme Kubrick that comes bundled with WordPress) that allows you to see your search results as you type.

I’ve modified it a bit and my modifications are still a work in progress, but you can check it out in the search box to the right.

(It may take a second or two to display the results as it has to query each time you type, so be patient.)

h1WeatherIcon Forums Up

Posted on Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 at 3:30 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Just a head’s up — in an effort to better provide support for WeatherIcon, I’ve set up some forums where all support questions and feature requests should now go.

h1Being Sick Sucks

Posted on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005 at 8:08 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Ugh, I hate being sick. I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat and felt achy all day. Luckily, my sore throat went away overnight, but I still feel crap and my sinuses are all congested.

As I said, ugh.

h1Feeds Should Be Fixed Soon

Posted on Friday, August 19th, 2005 at 11:47 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Sorry, I had a plugin that was throwing out error messages at the top of all of my pages when you first visited that site and that was screwing up the feeds. Since I’ve made this new post, Feed Burner should refresh it’s cached version of my feed and the error should go away (hopefully).

[edit] Fixed and all better! :) [/edit]

Thanks gig for pointing out the error. :)
